Theory of volume phase transitions of polyelectrolyte gels

Abstract

We will present theoretical results for the effect of charge regularization accompanying volume phase transitions of polyelectrolyte gels. Our theoretical formulation of the cascade effect that couples the effective degree of ionization and the polymer density leads to significant deviations from the classical Flory-type theories.
