Thermally Active Colloids

Abstract

We present a model of thermally active colloids that can propel and act as heat sources through absorption of light. We study the resulting dynamics of a system of many of these interacting colloids. The interplay between light absorption, long range fields and diffusion leads to novel collective dynamics.
