Town Hall Meeting on High Magnetic Field Sciences

Abstract

The current status and future direction of scientific research in the United States using high magnetic fields, and the technology development associated with it, is the focus of a recently released National Research Council report, High Magnetic Field Science and Its Application in the United States-Current Status and Future Directions. Bert Halperin, the chair of the committee writing the report, will briefly discuss the report and its principal recommendations and his remarks will be followed by comments from Greg Boebinger, director of the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, and Mary Galvin, Division Director for the NSF's Division of Materials Research. The meeting will then be opened up for comments and questions from the community.
