Being a Voice for Physics: Advocacy as a physics graduate student

Abstract

The APS Office of Government Affairs (OGA) worked with FGSA on a grassroots advocacy campaign last November that contributed to the Senate rejecting a proposal to tax student tuition waivers. This session will review that campaign, and various ways that graduate students can engage in advocacy and have impact. There will be an interactive portion of the session that will be an opportunity for graduate students to tell OGA about their science policy interests, and equip them with tips on how to be effective advocates
