Deterministic Preparation of Arbitrary Single-Excitation Quantum State by a Shaped Single-Photon Pulse

Abstract

Preparation of arbitrary quantum state such as highly entangled state has important applications in quantum information and quantum metrology. Here, we propose a method to prepare arbitrary single-excitation quantum state in a one-dimensional (1D) waveguide-QED system by photon pulse shaping. We show that the maximum entangled states such as arbitrary single-excitation Dicke and timed-Dicke states can be successfully prepared with almost unit fidelity.
