Observation of Dynamical Fermionization in 1D Bose gases
Invited
Abstract
I will present an experimental observation of the dynamical fermionization of 1D Bose gases in the strong coupling limit. As the gases expand in 1D, their initially bosonic momentum distributions progressively transforms into the momentum distributions of a Fermi gas with the same initial density distribution. In this way, we directly the observe the underlying conserved quantities in the 1D Bose gases (the rapidities). We compare the experiment to theoretical calculations. We also observe the oscillation of out-of-equilibrium trapped 1D Bose gases between Bose-like and Fermi-like momentum distributions.
