Physicists as Master Innovators: Why Innovation and Entrepreneurship should be highlighted in physics education
Invited
Abstract
Physicists are positioned to be some of the most effective innovators - solving real-world problems by applying their broad knowledge and understanding of how the world works, and contributing to all sorts of organizations through an entrepreneurial mindset. How can we make that happen more often, and how can we leverage this to attract a larger and more diverse body of students into the field? Innovation and entrepreneurship education components - whether implemented in curriculum directly, co-curricular programs, or experiential learning opportunities - can be utilized to achieve these goals. Let's consider why we should take this on as an important part of physics education - as important as the canon of content we've always delivered.
