OTOCs beyond Semiclassics
ORAL
Abstract
Out of time ordered correlators (OTOCs) are extensively used as a probe for quantum chaos and operator spreading. They show an exponential growth with a well-defined Lyapunov exponent in special cases where a small parameter can be defined (such as large N or weakly coupled theories). Apart from these special cases, little is known about the universality of OTOCs. In this work, we study the interplay of hydrodynamics and quantum chaos by searching for universal properties of OTOCs in systems where hydrodynamics emerges.
