Methods for simulating quantum hardware

Abstract

As quantum computing devices become more sophisticated, it is crucial that we use appropriate modeling frameworks and mathematical methods, both on the analytical and numerical aspects, to simulate quantum computing devices. In this talk, I will present various strategies for simulating superconducting qubit systems. Concrete topics include circuit quantization, Floquet theory, dissipation modeling, and tensor-network methods. In particular, I will show several examples of how these methods can be applied in practice. I will also give an outlook on possible ways to combine various techniques, potentially allowing for more efficient and performant simulations.
