Magnetic Structure and Anisotropy of EuBi2
ORAL
Abstract
We report the synthesis of metallic EuBi2 single crystals and their anisotropic magnetic properties. Temperature-dependent magnetization data indicate a Weiss temperature of ΘCW ≈ -35 K while the observed Neel temperature is 18.3 K. Field-dependent measurements reveal a large critical field for saturation as well as in-plane and out-of-plane anisotropy in these tetragonal crystals. Neutron diffraction is utilized to further probe the complex magnetic structure, which appears to be a large-cell commensurate spin structure.
