Floquet Engineering Beyond the Schrödinger Equation

ORAL

Abstract

The modulation of a system using periodic drives or Floquet engineering has been shown to produce states of matter that do not exist in the static regime. This has been studied extensively in the context of quantum materials and analogues metamaterial platforms, where phenomena such as anomalous topological insulators and topological states in artificial dimensions have been realized. In this talk, we extend the notion of classical Floquet metamaterials beyond the analogy of the Schrödinger equation and investigate what novel phenomena emerge when more general equations of motion are considered. We apply this approach to the experimental platform of electric circuits and present various, previously unobserved topological Hermitian and non-Hermitian phenomena in synthetic dimensions, which can lead to further developments in Floquet engineering of classical metamaterials.
