Berry Curvature Pumps from Locally Parameterised States
ORAL
Abstract
We propose a systematic wavefunction-based approach to higher Berry curvature based on local parameter spaces, for short-range entangled systems on a lattice.
Higher Berry curvature is the quantised invariant corresponding in 1D to the Thouless pump of Berry curvature, and its quantisation allows a classification of families of pumps, and has implications for the correlation functions of these families.
Our approach directly relates this pump to Schmidt decompositions and Matrix product states in 1D. This allows numerical and analytical computation, as we illustrate with solvable and non-solvable lattice models.
