Combining THz pump and photoemission probe

ORAL

Abstract

We report progress in combining THz frequency pump with angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy probe at 100kHz repetition rate for the study of quantum materials out of equilibrium. We characterize THz pulses ex-situ using electro-optical sampling and in-situ by observing streaking of photoelectrons [1]. We highlight science cases like exciting low energy collective modes without the limitations of sample heating and plasmon generation which are present with a higher energy pump beam. In addition, using a spintronics-based THz generator, we plan to tailor the THz frequency and bandwidth to suit specific questions.
