A Gentle Introduction to Quantum Information

ORAL

Abstract

The term "quantum" can be intimidating to students outside of physics, which leads to few outside of physics pursuing studies in quantum information science and engineering. An introductory course in quantum information with no math prerequisite will be discussed. The course is based around a series of games and activities that introduce students to classical and quantum topics including information theory, encryption, computing, and sensing. This course is part of a proposed minor in quantum information science and engineering.
