137Ba+ cooling and gates in a grid-style trap
ORAL
Abstract
137Ba+ is an attractive qubit candidate for scalable trapped ion quantum computing architectures due to its visible wavelength transitions, convenient low phase noise gate lasers, and recently demonstrated SPAM infidelities of <1e-4. Here, we present high fidelity laser-enabled single qubit and two qubit Mølmer-Sørensen gates. We also demonstrate data characterizing 88Sr+ as a sympathetic coolant for 137Ba+, enabling a full set of cooling, transport, and qubit operations entirely without UV lasers in a grid-style trap.
