Graduate STEM education for the 21st century
ORAL · Invited
Abstract
The evolution of graduate education in STEM fields has lagged behind changes in the way science is conducted and the characteristics and career interests of graduate students. A committee of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine reviewed the current landscape and recommended an action plan — including specific steps for each stakeholder — to modernize graduate education. The recommended changes require some fundamental behavioral and cultural changes in the system.
