Addition of Track Events to the Galactic Plane Neutrino Analysis
ORAL
Abstract
Galactic sources that produce high energy gamma rays are expected to emit neutrinos. The galactic plane is a source of high energy gamma rays as shown by Fermi-LAT, thus we expect to see neutrinos from this region. We utilize Fermi-LAT's high energy gamma ray data, using the data as a template, and compare it to IceCube's neutrino data as the two should correspond to one another. A recent neutrino analysis of the galactic plane has shown high significance of neutrino events as a diffuse source in the galactic plane using this template. This analysis adds around 1.6 million new events that have lower sensitivity, but have better angular uncertainty than the previous analysis. Adding this data should improve sensitivities and significance.
