Exploring Predicted Sulfide Superconductors: Synthesis, Characterization, and Validation

ORAL

Abstract

Superconductors are compounds that carry zero electrical resistance. Although current technologies already leverage some of their unique properties, there remains significant effort to discover superconductors with novel features (for instance, higher ). Motivated by recent studies probing the onset of superconductivity in chemically perturbed systems [1,2], this report describes efforts to empirically assess a compound's superconducting potential via systematic elemental substitution. We focus on sulfurcontaining families (e.g., , with ). We also present preliminary data on our attempted synthesis and characterization of the ternary compound .
