User Weighing for IceCube Citizen Science
POSTER
Abstract
The IceCube Neutrino Observatory is used to detect neutrinos deep in the Antarctic ice. Name that Neutrino is a citizen science project that collects novice user classifications of IceCube events, and compares and contrasts to a machine learning algorithm. An essential part of the process is understanding the comprehensibility of the user interface and finding out where to base user accuracy. This poster will present the initial design and revisions for the user interface, as well as future plans for improvements. Currently, user accuracy is calculated based on simulation truth values, and a cut is implemented to eliminate guessing. A study of user accuracy and cuts for the next iteration of Name that Neutrino will also be presented.
