The Users of Citizen Science for IceCube
POSTER
Abstract
Name that Neutrino is a citizen science project for the IceCube Neutrino Observatory, a particle detector that uses thousands of light sensors buried in the Antarctic ice. Understanding the citizen science results, and how they compare to a machine learning algorithm and the simulated truth values, is important in order to apply citizen science classifications to future IceCube physics analyses. This poster will present results of specific types of events that may have challenged the users or machine learning algorithm in different ways, and more importantly we can see where users are significantly more accurate and outperform the algorithm. Additionally, an analysis of other user information such as language and engagement will be presented as well.
