Maintaining Community for Students in a Holding Pattern
ORAL
Abstract
At the end of undergrad science programs students can find themselves in a holding pattern, intending to continue to grad school when funding or their own situation improves. For them it may be important to continue a connection to the science community. A program by the NES attempted this in fall 2025. It failed due to the small number (5) of students participating, but lessons were learned. With better publicity the idea may deserve rebooting and modifying.
