Variational formulation of self-consistent ponderomotive effects in unmagnetized plasmas

Abstract

The variational formulation of self-consistent ponderomotive effects in unmagnetized plasmas is investigated. In particular, we show how ponderomotive effects can assist in generating quasi-static magnetic fields.
