Recent Observations of the Eclipsing Binary Star System: 44i-Bootes

POSTER

Abstract

We report results from summer 2005 in an ongoing study of the eclipsing binary star system: 44i-Bootes. Light curves, representing the intensity of illumination received from the system over the course of a night were measured for a number of clear nights. The observation system has been improved with the introduction of a computer-guided 16" Ritchie-Chretien reflector. From this data, the time of eclipse is inferred. The period between eclipses has been slowly increasing since observations began, nearly a century ago. Residuals computed after the lengthening period is taken into account suggest an oscillation with a 60+ year period.
