KATRIN Progress Toward a Neutrino Mass Measurement
ORAL
Abstract
The Karlsruhe Tritium Neutrino experiment (KATRIN), now under construction in Germany, will use the kinematics of tritium beta decay to probe the neutrino mass with a designed sensitivity of 0.2 eV. The KATRIN collaboration recently completed a first commissioning phase of the main spectrometer, investigating electron transmission and background processes. We will show preliminary commissioning results and summarize the current status of the experiment.
