Elucidating Ray Diagrams

Abstract

Students often struggle to understand what ray diagrams are telling them. Difficulties include connecting the special rays in the diagram to the light that actually reaches the eye and thinking that if half the mirror or lens is blocked then half the image will disappear. I will present an interactive ray diagram designed to address these difficulties.
