The challenges of identifying and preparing physics teachers can be quite daunting. Innovative strategies are required to help address the shortage of physics teacher and over come these challenges. Successful physics teacher programs must find ways to recruit new teachers from the ranks of current college students, and experienced teachers who may cross-over from other subject areas while providing exceptional professional development to further enhance the quality of inservice teachers.
