Generating Functions for Effective Field Theory Operators

Abstract

The Hilbert series technique provides a robust way to calculate effective field theory operators, especially in situations where more traditional methods become computationally intractable. This technique will be explained, and recent work extending the method to include derivatives and calculate the dimension-8 operators in the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT) will be reviewed.
