Preparations for Inclusive Searches for Supersymmetry in the Leptons plus Jets and Missing Transverse Energy Topology using the CMS Detector
ORAL
Abstract
Preparations are underway to search for possible signatures of Supersymmetry (SUSY) in the leptons plus jets and missing transverse energy (MET) topology using the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. This talk reports on the expected performance of reconstructing Jets (and MET), using a full simulation of the CMS detector, and studies the effects on inclusive SUSY searches. The primary background sources to SUSY are expected to arise from QCD, top anti-top, and W/Z production. Strategies for reducing this background, both from the online CMS trigger and from offline data analysis, are presented.
