Kirchhoff's Rule and the Two Capacitor Paradox

POSTER

Abstract

We demonstrate that Kirchhoff's rules are not applicable when considering the two capacitor paradox, where initially one capacitor is charged and the other is uncharged before the combination is discharged through a resistor. We also consider the general problem of analyzing $RC$ circuits where the capacitors are initially in different states of arbitrary charge.
