The Jefferson Lab E05-115 Hypernuclear Spectroscopy Experiment

POSTER

Abstract

Jefferson Lab experiment E05-115 will study hypernuclear excitation spectra in the reaction spectroscopy employing the (e,e'K$^+$) reaction. The goal is to improve the current accuracy for medium mass hypernuclei from $\approx$1-2 MeV to roughly 400 keV. This will improve the knowledge of the hyperon-nucleon interaction. The experiment employs a new spectrometer system consisting of high-resolution kaon and electron spectrometers (HKS \& HES) and the associated focal plane instrumentation. The experiment will run August through October 2009. The experimental apparatus and technique will be presented in detail, as well as any preliminary results.
