Measurement of the Ξc+ Lifetime Using Belle II Simulations
POSTER
Abstract
We present a measurement of the lifetime of the Ξc+, a rapidly decaying charmed baryon, using Belle II simulation. Studies are underway using five different decay modes (Ξc+ —> Ξ- π+
π+ , Ξc+ —> p+ K- π+, Ξc+ —> ∑+ K- π+ , Ξc+ —> ∑+ π- π+, Ξc+ —> Ξ0 π+ π+ π-) with 500 fb-1 of Monte Carlo, comparable to the size of the data collected by the Belle II experiment, with the goal of combining all modes for a combined fit to determine the Ξc+ lifetime. With a single, all charged, final state, the lifetime extracted from simulation (464 ± 15 fs) is consistent with the simulated lifetime within 1.5σ. With the addition of more decay modes, the uncertainty will be reduced and potentially become competitive with other experiments.
