HL-LHC Upgrade to the CMS Outer Tracker
ORAL
Abstract
The CMS detector is in the process of upgrading its Level 1 track trigger in preparation for the High Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC). The Phase-2 Outer Tracker layout will consist of 6 barrel layers in the center and 5 endcap layers. These will be comprised of two different types of double-sensor modules. An important part of this update is ensuring the tracker works correctly, which is where DQM (Data Quality Monitoring) comes in. We need accurate data from the L1 tracking phase, especially concerning "stubs" or basic data inputs. Currently, we do not have a system to compare these stubs with the expected results based on Monte Carlo truth simulations. If there's an error in these simulations, it could lead to inaccurate stub data. This talk focusses on the software development to ensure that we can compare stubs with Monte Carlo truth information.
