Quest to Understand Proton's Identify
ORAL · Invited
Abstract
The proton, as a member of the baryon family, holds a baryon number (or identity) of 1. Unlike structureless leptons, baryons are composed of quarks and gluons. In this discussion, we explore the possibility of the existence of a "verton" and how it could carry the proton's baryon number, as proposed by Frank Wilczek and Gabriele Veneziano. The highest-precision experimental evidence, anticipated from Jefferson Lab and the future Electron-Ion Collider, will shed light on this theorized but critically important particle, deepening our understanding of the fundamental building blocks of the universe.
