Integrating A.I. into Introductory Physics Lab Courses
POSTER
Abstract
The rise of A.I. in the last few years has reached the point where it is essential that the current generation of college and university students learn how to integrate this new technology into their work while in school to prepare them for after graduation. To aid in this process, we have designed all new laboratory experiments for both algebra and calculus-based physics courses that integrate A.I. resources for lab design, theoretical explanations, and alternative methods of work. In this presentation, we will show case a few of these labs, the challenges found with the development process, funding resources available for universities in the Southeastern US, and the student reception and responses to these resources. In particular, we will discuss the use of Generative A.I., like MS Copilot, Google Gemini, and ChatGPT, for students in the mechanics sections of these courses.
