Expanding Alkali Magnetometer Capabilities

Abstract
Optically pumped alkali vapor systems have demonstrated excellent magnetic field sensitivity in portable quantum sensing packages that are subject to noisy ambient environments, in particular for the extremely low frequency band of 1-150 Hz. However, these sensors suffer from significant low-frequency drift. Here we propose extensions of existing quantum magnetometer sensors, with a focus on long-term stability and increasing bandwidth. Successful laboratory modalities will be transitioned to robust, portable quantum sensor heads.
