Searching for Radio Detections of Axions Around the Crab Pulsar

Abstract
The hypothetical particle known as the axion serves as a solution to the strong CP problem as well as a dark matter candidate. Through axion production in pulsar magnetospheres, strong magnetic fields should trigger axion-photon coupling to convert a fraction of present axions into radio emissions. The magnetospheres form vacuum gaps in which the scalar product of the electric and magnetic fields is nonvanishing, allowing for axion production and observation. In this study, we present a method of detection around the Crab Pulsar. It is through radio detections of this object that axions may be found.
