Perspectives on the Evolution of Quantum Gravity
ORAL · Invited
Abstract
The problem of unification of general relativity with quantum physics was first recognized by Einstein as a key open issue over a century ago. While there have been significant advances, we still do not have a definitive theory. The organizers requested a historical perspective.I will begin by summarizing my personal views on why the problem is still open and why we have several distinct approaches. I will then provide a bird's eye view of some of the most important advances that have deepened our understanding over the last couple of decades.
