Historical Perspective on Numerical Relativity

ORAL  · Invited

Abstract

20 years have passed since the first, successful merger of two black holes in numerical relativity. The field of numerical relativity made great strides in the years leading up to Frans Pretorius' breakthrough result. This talk will focus on the 20 years since that pivotal moment, highlighting the discoveries that were made possible and how numerical relativity is shaping our understanding of the Universe.
