Discrete symmetries test in annihilations of <sup>3</sup>S<sub>1</sub> positronium state with J-PET

Abstract

Positronium (Ps), an exotic bound state system composed of an electron and a positron, presents a unique investigative tool for discrete symmetry tests. Measurements of angular correlations in Ps annihilation provide a sensitive probe for such tests in the electroweak interactions. The Jagiellonian Positron Emission Tomograph (J-PET) is a novel technology employed to detect the multi photons from positronium annihilation [1,2]. Its high geometrical acceptance and high angular resolution for annihilation photons allow the detection of various kinematic configurations of Ps decay, enabling high-precision measurements of angular correlations in these decays. J-PET has demonstrably achieved stringent sensitivity limits on CP and CPT symmetry tests in the 3S1 state of the Ps atom [3,4]. This talk will cover updated results of the discrete symmetry tests with J-PET and discuss the prospects for further improving its sensitivity.
