Flexible multifunctional fiber-based neural probe for electrophysiological recording and biochemical sampling via microdialysis

ORAL

Abstract

We present an innovative flexible neural probe that combines advanced droplet-based microfluidic technology with electrical recording for simultaneous neurochemical sampling and neural activity monitoring. This probe addresses key limitations of traditional microdialysis by significantly enhancing the temporal resolution. The refined droplet segmentation technique achieves resolutions in the range of seconds, preserving the integrity of neurochemical samples while capturing rapid neurotransmitter release events. Additionally, the flexible and miniaturized probe ensures long-term durability during implantation, minimizing tissue damage and maintaining signal quality over extended periods. Our dual-function probe provides a powerful platform for studying the electrical and biochemical dynamics of the brain with high precision and opens new avenues for investigating neurodegenerative diseases and therapeutic interventions in real-time.
