Abstract

Room temperature control electronics and cryogenic dilution refrigerator units form the backbone of experimental quantum systems. And, although the QPU performance depends critically on both of these technologies, in many present-day implementations, they are treated as two separate and independent subsystems. In the coming transition from academic to industrial-scale systems for quantum chip characterization, the integration of cryogenic and quantum control into one unified framework will offer many advantages. Here we report on the development of an integrated quantum chip diagnostics setup in which cryogenic and quantum control systems are seamlessly integrated to enable efficient and automated quantum chip testing and qualification for hecto-scale superconducting QPUs. Purpose-built cryogenic and quantum control hardware systems are integrated under a unified control software platform. This integrated quantum diagnostics setup offers many practical advantages in the optimization of quantum chip characterization. The unified software interface allows for intelligent and automated feedback between quantum control parameters and cryogenic control and monitoring. This enables novel features for the prevention, diagnostics and mitigation of a range of practical issues that can occur in cryogenic chip diagnostics, as well as providing a unified interface for quantum experiments involving cryogenic parameters.
