Variable Frequency Pulse Generation from Breathers in Josephson Transmission Lines

ORAL

Abstract

Single flux quantum technology has the potential to facilitate fast and energy-efficient readout and control of superconducting quantum systems. Latency can be reduced by generating readout and control pulses closer to the base temperature stage within the dilution refrigerator. In this talk, we consider a protocol for generating gigahertz frequency Gaussian and flat-top Gaussian pulses from sequences of DC-centered fluxoids in Josephson transmission lines using the dynamics of breather formation, without room temperature synthesis or shunt / bias resistors. We detail simulations of the system for generating flat-top and amplitude Gaussian pulses in the range of 15 - 24 gigahertz with maximal energy efficiencies of 97% and 98.7% and bandwidth in the range of 40 - 1160 megahertz.
