Imaging Andreev Bound States in a high temperature Josephson junction

Abstract

This talk presents recent progress in developing local probes of the inductive response of Andreev Bound States (ABS) within a single high temperature tunnel Josephson junction based on thin niobium nitride film, as well as its extension to a one-dimensional Josephson array for studying the hybridization of ABS and their interactions. This research aims to advance the development of highly tunable quantum simulators capable of synthesizing fermionic Hamiltonians. We discuss readout methods to detect the presence of ABS through Current-Phase Relation (CPR) measurements and ABS spectroscopy, utilizing local imaging techniques that integrate sensitive scanning magnetometers with circuit Quantum Electrodynamic techniques. These results provide a promising pathway toward constructing fermionic Hamiltonians in highly tunable systems.
