Progress Toward Analyzing the Galactic Center Excess with CALET Data
ORAL
Abstract
Analysis of Fermi Large Area Telescope (LAT) data shows an excess of GeV gamma rays from the Galactic Center region. Possible explanations include the annihilation of weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs) or an unresolved population of millisecond pulsars. The Calorimetric Electron Telescope (CALET) on the International Space Station, which measures cosmic-ray electrons, nuclei, and gamma rays, has 10 years of gamma-ray data starting at 1GeV. We present here our progress toward determining the presence of the Galactic Center excess in CALET data.
