Universal Relations with Dynamical Tides

ORAL

Abstract

The observation of neutron stars (NS) and the accurate measurement of their parameters have greatly aided in our knowledge of fundamental physics, by either informing us on the properties of nuclear matter in extreme conditions or providing us with ways of testing general relativity. In this context, equation of state (EOS)-independent relations appear as a vital way of better inferring NS observables. In this work, we uncover a novel approximately EOS-independent relation between the static dimensionless tidal deformability and its leading-order dynamical correction. We test this relation across a representative set of 60 EOS, and we find the EOS dependence to be no greater than 10%.
