Theia: next-generation neutrino detection

ORAL  · Invited

Abstract

Theia is a proposed next-generation neutrino detector designed to combine Cherenkov and scintillation light for unprecedented particle and event identification. This hybrid approach enables a broad and powerful program spanning particle, nuclear, and astrophysics. In this talk, we will present the physics potential of Theia: from low-energy neutrino measurements and nucleon decay searches, to CP violation studies in long-baseline beams, supernova neutrino detection, and a beyond-ton-scale search for neutrinoless double-beta decay. We will also highlight the extensive international R&D program underway and recent progress toward realizing this transformative detector concept.
