Detector Technology Requirements at a Muon Collider
ORAL
Abstract
A future muon collider would provide an unprecedented opportunity to explore the high energy frontier but would come with equally unprecedented detector design challenges. Innovative detector developments are required to address the unique technological challenges at a muon collider, predominantly arising from beam-induced backgrounds. Compelling developments are underway in technologies for tracking, calorimetry, and dedicated precision timing detectors to meet the stringent timing, occupancy, and radiation tolerance requirements. In addition, these new detectors present an opportunity to expand the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning in the on-detector electronics. Moreover, high-performance computing must be employed efficiently to enable the reconstruction and analysis of events. This presentation will highlight these many challenges and developments in detector technologies at a muon collider.
