Inviting K-12 students in North Florida to STEM careers

ORAL  · Invited

Abstract

We focus two of our physics outreach efforts – a Nuclear Medicine and Science Summer Camp and our Future Physicists of Florida student recognition program – on middle school students because that is a constructive way to work toward broadening participation in our field of physics and related math intensive STEM fields while obeying Florida law. We recruit students into these programs without regard to sex, but girls are routinely half the participants.

*The Nuclear Medicine and Science Camp described in this talk is support by the CENTAUR consortium funded by the National Nuclear Security Administration.
