CrystaLiZe: Toward a Neutrino Limited Dark Matter Search with Crystal Xenon
ORAL
Abstract
We present CrystaLiZe, a proposed crystal xenon (CXe) particle detector, either as a standalone experiment or as an upgrade to existing liquid xenon detectors such as LUX-ZEPLIN. Radon is a leading background in current WIMP-mass dark matter searches in liquid xenon. Preliminary tests at the sub-kg scale of CXe have shown a factor of 500x mitigation of Rn decay products, promising a dark matter search with neutrinos as the leading background. In this talk, we discuss particle detection properties measured in a multi-kg scale CXe detector and prospects for application at the tonne-scale.
