Single-Site and Multi-Site Event Discrimination Study in Dual-Phase TPCs
ORAL
Abstract
Rare event searches using dual-phase noble liquid Time Projection Chambers (TPCs) can benefit from the discrimination of single-site (SS) and multi-site (MS) events. In this work, we use Fisher Information (FI) to predict the SS/MS discrimination capability of such detectors based on the light information only. The study was conducted for different photosensor sizes and detector geometries, varying the number of photons detected and the energy split between the vertices. Theoretical predictions for SS position resolution are validated against experimental data, while the results on MS event rejection are compared with likelihood- and machine learning-based reconstructions. Finally, we discuss the optimization of detector design and sensitivity improvement through enhanced SS/MS discrimination in future TPC experiments.
